News Highlights

Big God, Big Questions – a Confirmation Class at SFPC! Starting Feb. 9

Youth ages 13 – 18 are invited to form a group at SFPC to explore the four big questions that are asked of people who want to join the church. Most of the meetings will be from 3:30 to 5:00 on Sunday afternoons beginning February 9th. Taught by pastor Marian Taylor with assistance from Jason Shaw, Kendall Brown and other guest leaders, this class will help youths decide whether to commit to following Christ as members of the church. Open to students regardless of whether they have been baptized. Notify pastormarian.sfpc@gmail.com All session must be attended but one make-up session is allowed per student.

Lenten Study: Black Church, Black Theology

Bring your brown bag lunch and join us Tuesday-Thursday, March 10-12 from noon-1 pm in the Ben Fowler room for three engaging and informative discussions.

1: What is the Black Church? How was it established?
2: What is the Vision and Mission of the Black Church?
3: Is it still Relevant? What about Womanist Theology?

The teacher: The Rev. Glenn Spaulding, a native of Frankfort, is a minister in the African Methodist Episcopal Church, a historically Black denomination. Glenn earned a BS From Texas State University in political science and an M. Div from Payne Theological Seminary. Having had cerebral palsy from birth, Glenn wrote his master’s thesis on ministry for the physically challenged in the AME churches. Rev. Spaulding serves on the boards of the ACCESS men’s shelter and the Resource Office for Social Ministries (ROSM).
